Maker Spotlight: New Series

Here at Harold + Ferne: The Local Goods Co. I really highlight the makers behind the products in the shop. I think it is important to do this for a number of reasons;
1. It proves that the items featured in the shop are actually made locally!
2. It connects you, the buyer, to the handcrafted quality of your purchase. Shopping nowadays, online + in box stores, is so impersonal + everyone laments the "cheap" quality of bargain shopping.
3. It lets you know who you are supporting. Each item has the maker's name on the tag + you can find their photo on our "Meet the Makers" board.
4. I love that you may walk in + see a friend or neighbour on the board!
5. It's fun to think that you may be using or displaying an item that was made down the street from you!
To strengthen this connection I have decided to start a new weekly blog series called "Maker Spotlight" where each week I'll interview a Harold + Ferne Maker to learn more about their journey, inspiration, how they began, personal tidbits + what supporting local means to them to really put the spotlight on who you are supporting.
I hope you will enjoy reading this series as much as I will enjoy putting it together! The most exciting process of owning this shop is getting to meet + become friends with all of these creative souls. This series will give you an opportunity to get to know these wonderful makers too!
