I have to say, it's been so exciting to see our workshops really take off these last few months! Thank you for coming out + exploring your creativity with us :) To celebrate, we've scheduled twice as many workshops this month! Some have been brought back by popular demand + some are totally new, something to peak everybody's interest. It's the perfect opportunity to discover new skills + make some gifts for the upcoming holiday season.
Speaking of the holidays, you can start perusing our Christmas decor + gifts beginning on Tuesday November 1! We have a great selection of handmade ornaments, stockings, decor + stocking stuffers planned to trickle in from the beginning of November right up until the last minute. And be sure to keep your eyes peeled for some extra shopping hours as the season approaches!
We're also participating in some really awesome events around town again this month such as the second Truck Stop Thursday at The Brownstone + our first Black Friday! Scroll down for more details about our upcoming Harold + Ferne workshops + events.

Mala II Workshop 6:30 - 9:30
The wonderful ladies from Purple Lotus are here to take us to the next level in mala making! In this three hour workshop we will explore the importance of ritual + creating a sacred space to support your meditation practice. Learn the tradition of silk hand knotting + enjoy the added therapeutic benefits of sandalwood + gemstone beads as you create a 108 bead mala.
Note: It is recommended that you have attended our Intro Mala Making Workshop and/or have some meditation experience.

Truck Stop Thursdays at the Brownstone w/ Terry Savage + The Wonky Honkees
9:00pm-12:00am
Get your cowboy boots, hat + beer ready to listen to some roadhouse trucker slop country music! Happy to partner with Terry Savage + The Wonky Honkees on their monthly residency at The Brownstone Cafe. You'll find the lads + a musical guest bringing down the house on the first Thursday of each month + your $5 cover also gets you a raffle ticket for some sweet goods from Harold + Ferne makers!

Downtown Ladies Shopping Event
This November, get a group of co-workers, friends + family together + enjoy some quality time in Downtown Orillia! Shop till you drop for yourself or for that perfect Christmas gift, receive incredible deals, giveaways + treats, enjoy a delicious Fall Flavours inspired dinner + take in some great Lightfoot music. Only in Downtown Orillia!!
At the shop we will be staying open until 8:00pm on Friday November 4 so that you can get some holiday shopping done after work while enjoying all of the perks of this fantastic event.

Weaving Workshop 7:00 - 9:00
I first learned this beautiful craft during a summer living in Argentina! If you love working with textures + want a reason (or another) to play with gorgeous yarns, this traditional craft is a great place to start! Join me for an introductory session + make your own wall hanging. From this workshop you will take home your own handmade tiny woven wall hanging as well as the tools needed to continue practicing your new skills!

Watercolour Landscapes Workshop 7:00 - 9:00
Join local artist Steph Whalen for a fun evening learning watercolour basics! You will create 4 miniature landscapes that can be made into greeting cards or framed to be gifted ('tis the season after all!) or displayed in your own home. A delightful, multi-talented, self-taught artist, Steph will guide you confidently through this workshop even if you have zero experience with a paint brush!

Wet Felting Workshop 7:00-9:00
Join the lovely Laura Koza to dip your toes into the wet felting pool! While learning the basic technique of this fun craft you'll create + complete a felt ball garland to display for the holidays, in a nursery, living room, reading nook - or wherever your home needs a little whimsy!

Essential Oils Make + Take: Holiday Giving 6:30 - 8:30
Want to get a head start on holiday shopping? Prefer to give gifts made with love + your own two hands? Or just enjoy learning something new? If you answered yes to any of these questions then join us November 22nd!
You will go home from this workshop with the following products made with the highest quality essential oils: Lip Balm, Epsom Salts + a Solid Sterling Silver Diffuser Necklace with your choice of essential oils sample to accompany it. You will also take home all of the recipes + know-how so you can make even more! We will also have the chance to decorate + gift wrap your creations so you'll be ready come gift giving time!

Dreamcatcher Workshop 6:30 - 8:30
Join Samantha McIsaac + Devon Dwinnell as they show us the ropes in our Dreamcatcher Workshop! Learn the basics of this traditional craft with a variety of colours + accessories at your fingertips. Samantha + Devon will also introduce us to the story of the dreamcatcher while creating a sacred space in which to make. You will take home a small finished dreamcatcher to hang in your home or gift to a loved one. And you will leave with the knowledge + skills to continue your creative journey into this beautiful artform.

To celebrate our first Black Friday we'll be offering a deal on Harold + Ferne gift certificates! For every $50 in gift certificates that you buy you will receive $5 for free!!
Tuesday November 29
Make Your Own Forest Fairy 7:00 - 9:00
Come create your own forest fairy led by Sarah Apple. You will spend the evening being led through the process of creating a mixed-media fibre creature + invoking the forest spirits to infuse the creation with your own secret intentions. You will have a lovely new friend to name + take home at the end of the workshop.

Wednesday November 30
Winter Clothing Swap 6:30 - 8:00
For those of you that missed our Fall Clothing Swap, never fear! You can spruce up your winter wardrobe too! Bring gently used, clean clothing, outerwear, jewelry, footwear + accessories to swap + you could go home with a fresh new wardrobe to get you excited for the cold weather. Here's what you need to do:
Step 1: Pull out all of your Fall/Winter clothes + decide which pieces you absolutely love + can't wait to wear again. Put all of the clothes you are feeling "meh" about (that are still in great shape) into a basket or bag.
Step 2: Sign up for Harold + Ferne's Winter Clothing Swap by emailing, calling or coming into the shop or getting in touch over social media to reserve your spot.
Step 3: On November 30th bring that bag or basket full of items to Harold + Ferne: The Local Goods Co. + enjoy some refreshments while "swapping" your wardrobe.
How it works
*You must bring a minimum of 5 clothing items
*You will go home with the same amount of items (or less if you're trying to downsize your closet) that you came with
*Acceptable items include: jewelry, boots/shoes (no sandals), scarves, hats, mitts, jackets, button ups, pants, sweaters, long sleeve tees, lounge or activewear, dresses...you get the idea :) please don't bring spring/summer clothes or your intimates
*Ensure all items are gently used + recently washed (and make sure you check all of your pockets beforehand!)
*Wear a tank top + leggings because you can easily try clothes on over them
*Bring a tote bag to keep your finds safe + separate
*Any unclaimed items will be donated to Green Again for New Beginnings!
This event is open to women age 14+, all body types welcome :)
