WOW! Can you believe it's almost December? Aside from all of the usual holy-cow-it's-December madness, December is an extra special month for me so, let me just get all sappy for a moment :)
December 12th is Harold + Ferne: The Local Goods Co. FIRST BIRTHDAY!
As I let the reality of that sink in it makes me a little teary. All of a sudden, I can't comprehend that this year actually happened. To keep a business, let alone an independent retail business, "alive" for one year is really hard + an incredible success. For me, it has been a beautiful demonstration of community. The support + encouragement I have received from my partner, family, friends, fellow business owners, the CDC + all of you creates so many good vibes :D
I could go on (+ maybe I will in another post!) but let's keep this party going right up until the holidays! I have organized four workshops for the beginning of the month for anyone who would like to create some handmade Harold + Ferne gifts for those near + dear ones in your life! Including a weaving workshop on our birthday! This is one you won't want to miss as we'll enjoy a little birthday cake + refreshments! And to ensure you can do ALL of you holiday shopping locally, I have extended the shop hours this month! You can now shop until 8:00pm on Thursdays + Fridays as well as on Sundays from 12:00-4:00pm!
Then I'm really excited to say that I'll be taking a break in January!! I'll enjoy some much needed relaxing + then start working on some fun, fresh changes here at the shop! Truck Stop Thursdays at the Brownstone w/ Terry Savage + The Wonky Honkees

Get your cowboy boots, hat + beer ready to listen to some roadhouse trucker slop country music! Happy to partner with Terry Savage + The Wonky Honkees on their monthly residency at The Brownstone Cafe. This month you'll find the lads + The Mayhemingways bringing down the house. To kick off our new holiday hours this Thursday, Harold + Ferne is one of the stops on the Downtown Orillia Art Hop! A fun night to discover the amazing + fun art spaces Downtown! Check out the link here for other participating venues + events.

Dreamcatcher Workshop 6:30-8:30
Join Samantha McIsaac + Devon Dwinnell as they show us the ropes in our very popular Dreamcatcher Workshop! Learn the basics of this traditional craft with a variety of colours + accessories at your fingertips. Samantha + Devon will also introduce us to the story of the dreamcatcher while creating a sacred space in which to make. You will take home a small finished dreamcatcher to hang in your home or gift to a loved one. And you will leave with the knowledge + skills to continue your creative journey into this beautiful artform.

Forest Fairy Workshop 7:00-9:00
Come create your own forest fairy with Sarah Apple. You will spend the evening being led through the process of creating a mixed-media creature + invoking the forest spirits to infuse the creation with your own secret intentions. You will have a lovely new friend to name + take home at the end of the workshop.

Monday December 12
H+F's First Birthday Weaving Workshop 7:00-9:00
Join me in celebrating Harold + Ferne's first birthday in a special Monday night workshop! We'll enjoy cake + refreshments while exporing this beautiful artform! If you love working with textures + want a reason (or another) to play with gorgeous yarns, this traditional craft is a great place to start! Join me for an introductory session + make your own wall hanging. From this workshop you will take home your own handmade tiny woven wall hanging as well as the tools needed to continue practicing your new skills!

Herbal Tea Blending Class 7:00-8:30
Join Ashleigh Grange, Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N.), Culinary Nutrition Expert (C.N.E.) + community herbalist, to create your own unique healing tea blends! We'll discover the diverse flavours of healing tea herbs while learning some of the historical, medicinal + spiritual properties surrounding them. Ashleigh will guide us through how different herbs can improve your overall health + well being while we sample a variety of therapeutic, delicious + all natural tea blends. Then, using your newfound tea knowledge + exceptionally high quality organic and/or wildcrafted herbs, you will create 2 unique tea blends to take home!
